Spiritual, Intuitive, Psychic, Medium, Tarot & Divination Terms and Definitions

First, I would like to get some definitions out of the way so seekers can understand how I approach readings

Intuitive
“Intuition is a combination of historical (empirical) data, deep and heightened observation and an ability to cut through the thickness of surface reality. Intuition is like a slow motion machine that captures data instantaneously and hits you like a ton of bricks. Intuition is a knowing, a sensing that is beyond the conscious understanding — a gut feeling. Intuition is not pseudo-science.” Abella Arthur

An intuitive is someone who has mastered the art of listening and memory recall in an instant, to the point that they are often not cognizant of where the information is coming from

Psychic
There are many different types of psychics with Clairvoyant being the most “popular” term. However, there are strong feelers, healers, thinkers, tasters, etc.. Basically a psychic uses the 5 senses in otherworldly ways — this is often called: The Sixth Sense. Ways that are not currently catalogued and acknowledged in the scientific world.

Spiritual
Being spiritual is a state of being rather than necessarily following dogmatic rules, as in religion. Spirituality is less strutured in its determination; however, if you want to be structured spiritually you can. It’s about connecting to source or whatever you wish to call anything beyond oneself, in a way that’s personally meaningful.

Tarot
The Tarot is an allegory of life. It’s a set cards (traditionally 78 — 22 major and 56 minor) of symbols, pictures, and text which bring synchronistic meaning to the seeker, also known as the querant (questioner)

Divination
There are literally hundreds of ways to divine. Divining is a unscientific (can not be duplicated under scientific controls and measures) form of providing information about the past, present, and/or future.

Some examples of divinatory techniques are: Tarot, astrology, tasseography (tea leaf reading), and bibliomancy (random selection of passages from a book), and more… (obscure techniques)

Medium
A medium is someone who receives information from beyond. Whether that be from those that have passed over, spirit and spirit guide(s), angels, God, or otherworld beings.

Chaneler
A chaneler is someone who makes contact with the beings that mediums do but allow the beings to use their body, voice, etc.. to communicate in this earthly realm.

Telepath
Telepaths can read minds but not in the way people think. 🙂 I’m a telepath and make energetic connections with people but I don’t read all their thoughts; I just read what I need to know. Example. I’m reading cards and I want to hone in on specific information, I can “pick up” what the person wants to know so that I can offer better information from what I see in the cards. Telepathy only works if the sender and receiver choose to connect. If the other person chooses to scramble their thoughts, they then become unreadable to me in the telepathic realm.

Abella’s Three C’s of Readers’ Communication Styles

Counselor — one who listens and provides analysis about what’s being discussed.
Coach — one who asks a lot of questions, helps you achieve goals, and keeps you running at top order.
Consultant — one who offers advice based on wisdom, education, and/or experience.

Revelations Tarot _ 2 of Cups UprightRevelations Tarot _ 2 of Cups Reversed

WHERE I’M COMING FROM
I’m a professional Psychic Tarot & Divinatory Reader. While I don’t *need* tools to do a reading, I LOVE tools! 🙂 Also tools can enhance a reading and since I’m visually (as well as verbally) oriented, I love delving into scrumptious images which enhance the psychic impressions received.

Now I normally avoid sharing my “trade secrets” with people but two things are of issue here: 1. I want the Revelations deck to become a “classic” so I can buy a deck whenever I like as opposed to “stockpiling decks” like I often do (worried about tools going out of print), 2. Zach Wong is a wonderfully *nice* person whom I’m compelled to promote! 🙂 [I don’t know him personally but he always answers my questions in a prompt and pleasant way — mind you, my questions are about 15 words long — unlike this review! haha].

DECK IMPRESSIONS
Revelations IS the only deck, that I’m aware of, that has reverse images to reflect the reversed Tarot meanings of each card. Imagine getting a reversed card (if you work in both upright and reverse) and just seeing an upside-down image. If you are visual, like me, this is an annoyance because it’s difficult (though not impossible) to glean visual information and rather one might go from stored memory to come to the meaning of the reversed card or forget about the card and rely on intuition or psychic impressions instead. However, with the Revelations deck a “brand new image” appears in the reversed position (see examples above) to offer additional or differing meaning from the upright position.

The Revelations deck has an abstract surreal quality to it with a lot of fine and enlarged details going on. It can be used both as a reading and meditative deck. The colour usage seems symbolic and I find myself gaining immediate “impressions” from the cards as the hues impart great information. As I lean in and take a closer look, more information is received from both the fine and enlarged shapes and drawings. I have no complaint other than I would like to see the astrological symbols on each card with a longer lasting card stock.

THE DECK TO GET — For beginner and advanced Tarotists
The Revelations Tarot Book Set is THE deck to have in addition to any or all of the original or inspired versions of these classic Tarot decks: Rider-Waite, Thoth, and Marseilles.

But let’s say you only want one deck and would rather use intuition instead of reading a whole bunch of books of Tarot meanings — then THIS deck is for you. However, instead of it being a lighter version — how most *you don’t need to study Tarot for long* oracle-type decks are — this deck is intense and both beginner and advanced Tarotists will find tremendous value in it.
If the deck wasn’t enough, this set comes with an organdy black silky bag, box for the deck (which you can colour or place stickers on — basically personalize the cardboard box) and a companion book about the cards meanings (a key idea, upright and reversed meanings, image and colour symbology).

THE COMPANION BOOK
Unlike many books, the prose is clear, clean, and sparse. Now some might say sparse is not good but the old adage goes here, “less is more”. He says what he needs to say, in a very personable manner, and doesn’t fill the book with a lot of fluff. And who needs to read fluff in such a fast paced world?

Psychic Tarot Reading Referrals

Saturday, January 14th, 2006

I have finally accepted that I don’t like referrals much. Now that’s so against traditional “business strategies” as receiving referrals and word-of-mouth is what sustains a business — so is, “repeat customers” but I believe neither of these *strategies* are productive or positive experiences for reader or seeker..

Why?

On Referrals and Word-of-Mouth

Situation: The original seeker rants and raves about the readers abilities as the reading went above and beyond the seeker’s expectations but the referree doesn’t feel the same after their reading. Why does that happen? It’s simple. The expectations have been raised a few notches. Whereas if they came to you on their own, they would have more likely ranted and raved as well. 🙂

So I think I’m going to start downplaying referrals as I do not believe they are the best method for giving awesome readings.

On Repeat Customers

When I give a reading, it’s fairly complete, empowering, and energizing. I would rather develp in the seeker heart, mind, and soul to believe in their own intuition and life unravelling as it should be than to have them continuously coming back to me. Again, I don’t think that’s positive or productive.

Having said that, consulting the Tarot, oracles, or other divinatory methods, for handling today’s issues, is a “really great” opportunity and I’m happy to help others navigate their choice, options, challenges, and strengths. For example I’m a life, business, and spiritual coach and coaching is definately an on-going sort of relationship.

I guess I need to reframe what it is that I do and to cultivate the type of seekers in my practice that would most benefit from my way of reading. *grin*

As for “repeat seekers”, who like to seek “future oriented” predictions, I would be more happy to see them once or twice a year then every other week or once a month (which is traditional business strategy — then again, I’m not traditional and I’m people-focused). Hmmmm….

Want a reading with a difference?
